PSI gets attention, but cleaning speed depends on both pressure and water flow. Match the machine to your surfaces, storage space and how often you plan to use it.

Look at cleaning units

Multiply PSI by GPM for a useful directional comparison of cleaning output. Higher flow is especially helpful when rinsing broad areas, while pressure helps break stubborn bonds.

Electric or gas

Electric machines start instantly, run quietly and need little maintenance. Gas machines offer more output and range for large concrete or siding jobs, but require fuel, oil changes and winterization.

Protect the surface

More pressure is not always better. Start with a wider nozzle, test an inconspicuous spot and keep the wand moving. Cars, wood and painted surfaces can be damaged by an aggressive tip at close range.
